Botanical tonics

To simplify my approach to plant health I’ve developed 3x Concentrated liquid plant health supplements derived solely from plants and the compounds they create to enhance growth & vigor.  Years of experimenting went into the creation of these three final blends along with many ‘tips & tricks’ I’ve learned along the way to maximize the efficacy of compounds extracted and concentration in each bottle.

Plant Tonic: For all plants at all stages of growth great for foliar feed & soil drench.  Plant Tonic includes the ingredients I would want to feed my plants with every application.  The igredients i’ve grown to love over the years that inspired the use of the word “Tonic” in relation to plant health!  This is your fresh Aloe vera, live sprout extracts, kelp and unique nutrient accumulating herbs such as horsetail, comfrey and stinging nettle.  This is the pure & original Plant Tonic formula but because I want plants to benefit from these botanicals with every soil drench or foliar spray I have included Plant Tonic in ALL OUR TONICS & LEAF SHINE products!  

Leaf Tonic: For the leaves! Foliar spray great for all plants at all stages of growth.  I use the Plant Tonic as the base concentrate for this product and then add our soapnut extract (loaded with natural saponins, natures soap!) plus extracts of highly aromatic herbs for a kick of pest prevention.  This is my go to for Cacti, Succulents and any plants that might be sensitive to the oil based formula in our Leaf Shine products.  You can think of Leaf Tonic as being a natural “insecticidal soap” except it is actually good for your plants health!

Soil Tonic: For the soil!  Soil drench great for all plants at all stages of growth.  We also start with Plant Tonic & our soapnut extract as the base concetrate for Soil Tonic but instead of the aromatic herbs included in Leaf Tonic we add our Whole Plant Neem concetrate that includes extracts of the leaf, bark and seed (after the oil is pressed).  This added combo is an excellent soil application for fungus gnats, root aphids and other soil born pests.  It nourishes the plant via the roots, saponins act as a trigger to stimulate the plants natural immune system and can help alleviate hydrophobic soils.

Plant Tonic 

Infused with Aloe, Kelp, Sprouts & 5 other Botanicals!

A special blend of Hand-Crafted and cold extracted botanicals formulated with plant & soil health in mind.

Plant Tonic includes these amazing botanicals:

1. FRESH Aloe vera: high in hormones, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, saponins & its cellular water.
2. Kelp: Trace minerals, 60 micronutrients, phytohormones, amino acids, vitamins & enzymes.
3. LIVE Sprout Blend: We germinate & extract massive amounts of Fresh, living sprouts high in all the phytohormones, enzymes, minerals and cellular water.
4. A select blend of nutrient accumulating herbs including Comfrey, Stinging Nettle, Horsetail, Yarrow & Alfalfa.

Application:  

For Plants of all types at all stages of growth. 

Soil drench or Foliar spray with 10ml / 2x tsp per gallon. That’s just 2.5ml or 1/2 tsp for a 32oz spray bottle. 

Apply about once a month or every few waterings.  Plant Tonic is gentle enough to use very frequently.

Can be used in conjunction with any other fertilizer program.

Concentrated formula, a little goes a long way!

4oz Bottle makes 12x gallons of ready to use solution!

Orchids/LECA/PON: 

For orchids or any plant kept in a passive/semi hydro setting.  Soak at half to full strength up to once weekly for 1-2hours. Rinse medium after, replace reservoir with plain water or any nutrient solution you normally use. 

For my orchids I opt for Plant Tonic regularly but will switch to Soil Tonic if the roots/medium etc need a good cleaning, the saponins (natural soap) in Soil Tonic help with cleaning any buildup or residue. I keep them in Leca with a small amount of plain water at the bottom to wick from, or in bark that will soak or rinse with water as needed when starts to dry.

Propagation:

Water propagation: I follow the same guidlines as above, keep the cuttings you want to root in plain water but once weekly let the soak up some Plant Tonic at half to full strength.  Alternatively you can add a much lower amount, just a drop or two, replacing the water as per usual (about once weekly).

Soil or rooting medium propagation: 1. Dip your cutting directly into Plant Tonic and place in your rooting medium, water as per usual. 2. Pre-soak rooting cube/medium or water soil with Plant Tonic at regular strength.

Cuttings can be misted with Plant Tonic at any time during the rooting process.

Emuslifier: 

Have a bottle of pure Neem Oil in the cupboard? Tired of lackluster results trying to use dish soap to emulsify it?  both our Soil Tonic & Leaf Tonic make a superior emulsifier for any Horticultural Oil! 

For 1 gallon of solution:   Mix 10-15ml of Oil with 5-10ml of Soil or Leaf Tonic. I recommend adding together with a little bit of warm water in a quart jar where you can shake it and see that proper emulsification has taken place. Then dilute into the full amount of water in your spray bottle!

Water plants with 10ml / 2x tsp per gallon. 

Apply about once a month or every few waterings. For pest outbreaks like fungus gnats apply 3x waterings in a row before resuming a regulare maintence schedule.

Can be used in conjunction with any other fertilizer program.

Concentrated formula, a little goes a long way!

Are you here for the suds n’ foams you may have seen on social media?  Here’s some ways to activate the super sudsy saponins! 

1. Use a mason jar or a water bottle/jug.  In a half gallon container I will add 2.5ml, only 1/4tsp of Soil Tonic, and fill up half way with water, thats 32oz of water, leaving plenty of room for the foam to grow!   For a 1 gallon jug fill half way with water and add 5ml, 1tsp Soil Tonic.  Give it a shake and you’ll see how quickly it foams up!  While not necessary it sure is fun and we love adding a little extra fun to Plant Care!  Rest assured though, the benefits are still there regardless so don’t worry if you skip this step altogether!
2. Skip the shaking and add to your kitchen blender, let the blender do the shaking for you!

My everday/quick method of application is to simply measure and pour Soil Tonic into your watering can or pitcher and fill with water at the kitchen sink or from the hose, and water your plants!
